Construction Specs, Pricing, and Options for Cottages, Chalets, and Cabins
- Our Cottages, Chalets, and Cabins have the same standard construction features and the same options and upgrades of our deluxe sheds and barns. Where necessary, we modify our specifications to meet building code requirements.
- Tiny Houses are typically constructed as mobile housing, on a trailer platform, due to local zoning requirements limiting residential construction to houses with a minimum square footage that is greater than the Tiny House, and due to permitting requirements for driveways and septic systems. As the Tiny House movement grows in popularity, attitudes and legal/permitting requirements are changing. If you plan to construct your Tiny House as a normal residential structure, on a foundation rather than on a trailer platform, please consult with your local zoning and permitting authorities for guidance on obtaining the necessary approvals.
- Typically, a Tiny House will be fully insulated, with some electrical, plumbing, and heating features. Please call to discuss your specific needs.
- For an insulated Tiny House, you will want to select double pane windows, and steel or fiberglass entry doors with a threshold that seals the door at the bottom.
- The Cottage Works is a supplier of Separett Toilets, a very highly rated and high quality UD (urine diversion) composting toilet, manufactured in Sweden.
- Special options for the Chalets include:
Deluxe Chalet Roof, with 24″ overhang …………………………………………………………..adds 10%
Two tone paint, with Miratec trim …………………………………………………………………………adds 5%
Sculptured fascia……………………………………………………………………………………… $1/linear ft.
